Winter 2022 has arrived much as did the Winter of 2021 ...

After having had a summer in a place of comfort, semi-confidence, and the downward trend in ‘numbers’ for me to re-open, I welcomed guests for all of six weeks!  But we have once again approached higher numbers and projections for this 'wave' to be significant means we are back to where we were at this time last year.  Closed …

Living through the last year and a half, navigating challenges, making difficult choices, feeling frustration and not living our privileged ‘normal' life, has certainly put things in perspective.

There will be a collective sigh of relief, and it will be a great day for everyone when we ‘come out the other side’ of Covid and ALL can feel safe, comfortable, and willing to re-start our daily lives in a more physically social and connecting way.

Travel, visiting family and friends will hopefully always be a present and active part of our existence.  To that 'end' when we do re-open (again), at least for a little while the following will be in place.  These are in accordance with Public Health Guidelines, travel specialists’ recommendations, as well as my personal 'comfort zone'.

As a small B&B, this is my home 'first' and we ALL must feel comfortable and safe!  To this end, the 'AIR PURIFIER' will be humming in the background, unfortunately there will be no welcoming handshake or long conversations, distancing, masking, and time spent with guests will be carefully observed. These extremely unique circumstances and necessary protocols, I hope, will be acceptable to guests while still make staying at Almost Home B&B an enjoyable experience ... and when you visit, you will feel safe and well taken care of!

Please know and feel you are WELCOME.

Thank-you for your understanding!

2022 Season - Covid-19 Protocol

Some of the following guidelines have been in place since our opening in 2017 and others since the Covid-19 restrictions and provincial guidelines.

I will have a maximum of only two (2) guests at a time and maximum of two (2) nights stay.

Unlike a hotel, which can be a vacation destination, and where one might expect to stay on the premise all day, B&B guests are expected to spend some of the day touring, visiting attractions or family and friends. This allows me time to tidy up, clean, sanitized, to bake and prepare foods for the next day.

Check-in will be quite simple:  Pre-arrange your arrival time in an email … I will welcome you into my home, my face mask on…as will yours.

After an introduction tour, fill-out the guest card and then e-transfer the agreed upon payment at check-in please.

Choose the time and your preference for Breakfast … then I will retire to my living area downstairs.

I will always be home while guests are in the house and may be reached by the phone intercom for any questions or requests.

Special cleaning protocols: Special products have been purchased to disinfect the guests’ living area (thus adding an additional $10.00 to the final price for the room) and there will be a period of 48 hours between guests using the home.

There will be no ‘outside’ visitors in the home.  If family or friends come to pick you up, they will be required to wait outside.  I too will have no outside visitors in the home during your stay.

Bedroom doors will always be closed, and your room not entered when you are booked in. If you need any supplies (not already in the rooms) please request them and they will be set out in the common area.

Breakfast:   Will be prepared and set out prior to the time you have chosen, therefore allowing for personal distancing.  There will be no HOT breakfasts prepared at this time…

Choose from Individual Servings of ...

Fruit or Fruit & cheese platter / muffins / fruit crumble / granola or cold cereal/ yogurt / juice (anything set out and not eaten will be discarded ... so please let me know if you have a lighter or healthy appetite).

Guests will have access to tea/coffee, the required condiments and coffee maker. There will also be a few dishes set out for your use if you bring in ‘take out food’.  There is a small frig in the laundry room for your use. However, use of the kitchen is not permitted.  Please ... No EATING meals in the bedrooms.
